I wish google would allow you to give someone 6 stars. I'm 28, and I propbably haven't seen much of this world. But even if I could use that extra star only once in my life, well I would give it to Family K9 dog training.
If you are reading this, it means that just like me you are looking for a reliable trainer you can trust. There are so many trainers out there, so many schools, and different advices. It's hard to make the right decision. Here is what I can tell you:
- I have never seen Nick whisper to my dog, but he definitely took the time to talk to me and understand my needs. And not once have I felt pressured to do something.
- He also took the time to observe my dog and understand his behavior and discover his personality. He has treated my dog like his own, and Sirius loves him like family.
- He made sure to explain everything he did. It's important that it makes sense to you otherwise how can you trust the training.
I could go on and on and on. Bottom line is whether you are experiencing problems with your best friend, or you just want the best training for him, you are in good hands. I will vouch for family K9 anytime, any day.
Thank you again for everything!
When we called Nick for in house training we were completely lost with our puppy. We loved her to death but had zero control over her and were at wits ends. Nick is the absolute best. He is one of the nicest and compassionate people you could meet. Within a short time our Brooklyn was the dog we dreamed of. We have a happy dog who listens and our house is back to normal again! Nick explains it all and not only we would we recommend him but we would like to adopt him!
Nick, rating you a 5 doesn't seem good enough! You are most definitely a 10!!! You are more than a dog trainer, you are the entire package that any dog and dog owner needs. You connected with Boomer in under 3 minutes on day 1 and it just got better from there! You take the time to understand the dog's needs as well as the owner's needs and adjust your training to fit those needs. You are ultimately the best trainer around these parts! I will recommend you to anyone in a heartbeat! Looking forward now that Boomer's training is over for me to take the reigns on Monday! It has definitely been a pleasure and an experience watching just how amazing you are with animals. You were given a rare gift and you put it to use with class and precision! I cannot thank you enough!
As a first time dog owners, we discussed and agreed that we would include a dog trainer. From the the very first call Nick put me at ease and knew he was the trainer for us and his love for dogs is very noticeable. We started with the puppy training and then asked for the full package. Monty (our puppy) loves Nick. While on I cant tell you that we had any problems with Monty before, as we bought when he was 8 weeks old and was involved with Nick from the get go. But that is exactly what we wanted, as new dog owners...the right things do right away. What I enjoyed about Nick's training of us is that he explains the why!
I would strongly recommend Nick for all your needs... Thank you Nick!
Our dog had gone for training to Family k9 for basic obedience: she was very hard headed and stubborn. She would pull and not listen to us on our walks together. She also would not come when we called her or stay when needed. Now, on her walks she has her full attention on us, she comes when called and stays when needed,
A couple of weeks ago, she also had a vet visit and I am so happy to say that we got to wait in the waiting hall with the other dogs around her. At first, she was a little nervous, but she then calmed down and we only had to redirect her attention to us a few of times; all this done with a huge Swiss, German Shepard mix next to us. There was also a 147 pound husky and 120 pure German Shepard around us that she did not really fuss over.
Her progression has surprised us all and has encouraged us all to a better and happier Mussi in the future.
Well are so happy we brought her to Nick. He did a wonderful job and would definitely recommend him to anybody looking to get their dog trained.

Family K9’s website was the first to offer videos of dogs in training - because Nick wants you to see firsthand what great dog training can do for you and your dog.
Dog trainers are everywhere - and not all of them are qualified to help you with your dog. Go to any dog park or talk to people who have trained their dogs and see for yourself what the results were for their efforts. Lots of trainers talk a good game - there is a reason why they don't have videos on their site. A trainer should be proud to show you their work - just like an artist would love to show you their portfolio.
Nick’s concept for Family K9 is to offer dog owners the very best training - making sure things get done right the first time and guarantees the training for the life of your dog. When you choose Family K9 dog training for anything from puppy training to advanced obedience or problem behaviour - all levels of training and problem solving - you are dealing with a consummate professional with a 20 year track record and you are always dealing with the
owner of the business. No part time staff - no trainers who lack experience or are part of a chain organization.

I wish I had a photo for you to see. It was possibly the most touching thing I have seen between Human and K9.
While on vacation in Maine - we were out for a walk one evening and a man walked past us with a dog slung over his shoulder - fireman carry style. It was late and dark and I couldn’t see him or his dog clearly. The dog was at ease and relaxed up in his shoulders. In that brief moment if I had to guess I’d say she was used to being up there.
We ran into him a couple of days later and I went over to say hello and ask him about his dog. She had a splint on one of her front paws and her tongue was hanging out. He didn’t go into detail - just said “she’s got some birth defects” and left it at that. She proceeded to place herself under a cedar bush behind him and he laughed mentioning that she is quirky and afraid of just about everyone she doesn’t know - so without hesitation we walked off after saying goodbye - I didn’t want to stress her out. I did make a point of telling him how beautiful I thought it was that he carries her when she needs it - she must have been in the 60-70 pound range. He was a young and fit looking man and they were a real pair.
I would have loved a photo - had she not been bothered by strangers I would have asked for one of them together. it would have been hanging up in my home as a reminder of the bond, the trust and caring between human and dog. ... See MoreSee Less
